I started my journey in practical pistol competition with IDPA in 2000, shooting it for several years before dropping out due to hitting a plateau in match results. I continued shooting pistols to stay proficient while learning carbine and long-range rifle skills through a series of classes and self-directed practice. In 2011, a friend got me back into pistol competition with Steel Challenge, and I started USPSA two years later, initially classifying as A in Production division on my stand-and-shoot skills. However, I soon ran into the same plateau.

In an effort to break through, I arranged for Ben Stoeger to teach a class at my home club in 2014. His instruction sorted out my approach to training, and my match results started progressing immediately. I made Grand Master in 2017, won the Georgia and North Carolina state championships in 2022, and podiumed at the South Carolina championship in 2023, all in Production division.

I'm continuing to refine my skills and match results through near-daily practice, training with other dedicated shooters, participatigg in Practical Shooting Training Group, and getting instruction from experts like Ben Stoeger, JJ Racaza, Travis Tomasie, and the late Ron Avery. I've been hosting Ben for annual classes in Atlanta since the first one in 2014.

I started teaching formally in 2018, offering a one-day class on core practical-shooting skills and personalized private instruction. I continuously refine my classes based on my own skill development, insights on effective training, and student feedback. This led to develping additional one-day classes and a intensive two-day boot camp. Ben invited me to teach a block of instruction at the first PSTG Summit in 2020, and I returned to instruct in all the following years. I'm a frequent host on the Training Group Live podcast.
