Good travel photography captures the mood of a place and has you checking ticket prices and exchange rates. This gallery does just that and shows what happens when an eye for composition meets wild landscapes and people. Note that almost all the photos were taken with a Nikon D40x and a Nikkor 18–200 VR, hardly a high-end combination.
The folks over at 1x are constantly posting amazing photos. Even the thumbnails look compelling. Photos need to pass a review process before appearing on the site, so it's not an all-you-can eat site like Flickr where you'll only find something by good by chance.
You'll be hard pressed to find better nature photography than on this site. The images combine compelling subjects and composition with technical excellence.
